Here's what we are eating for dinner tonight - Maple-Soy Glazed Salmon.
It sounds kinda strange, but believe me, it's good. My favorite thing about it, is that it works as a great no-planning-required-meal. We keep the Salmon from Costco in the freezer. And, the few ingredients that you use for this are really easy to keep on hand. We always have them. Soy Sauce, Maple Syrup & Chipotles are all things that virtually never go bad. Oh, & rice. That doesn't really go bad either. And, we often have edamame in the freezer. So, the whole meal is pretty much a thoughtless production.
Then, after dinner, my love is taking me to the movies. We will see Transformers. Should be very romantic.

dessert update
Um. So, the dessert didn't turn out so well yesterday. Mainly because I forgot it here at home & it didn't even get to be eaten...
But, here also is a photo for you to see how mine turned out. Nice quite picture perfect.

Martha's Looks Perfect

Today I am making this gorgeous shortcake. Hopefully mine is somewhere close to this attractive.
We are going to celebrate the 4th at a friend's house in Scotts Valley. Hopefully Gillian will last long enough, that we can walk with everyone to see the Sky Park fireworks.

Raise the Banner
My sister Leah & I worked on making these adorable 4th of July banners this last week. We are both pretty pleased with our results, I think. Feeling very crafty...
Hers is a lot like mine, but bigger. We started hers at about 10" squares - & soon realized that such a size would not fit in my little house. So, mine is made with 6" squares.
No Photos
I've been using my old-fashioned film camera this week. So, I have no photos right now, to show you our good weekend...
On Saturday, my close friend since childhood, Holly Reiter, got married! We went up to her lovely wedding in Rohnert Park. The setting was really nice. The reception was a lunch. The bride was beautiful. Seeing good, old friends was great. And, the couple - Ryan & Holly Dowdy - looked so happy. That was a good day.
Sunday was my brother David's 21st birthday. Wowsa! The whole family went to the champagne brunch at the Chaminade after church. That was lovely. David can eat a lot. So, it was appropriate that the brunch is all-you-can-eat. We all gave him a video Ipod for his birthday. He was pretty excited about it. I have hardly even touched an Ipod before. I don't know how they work. I am way behind the times.
