Infuriating

So, this news story is pretty incredible. Where do flight attendants come off with so much power? Shocking. We are really hoping this mean, old lady gets fired. Does this lady also kick off the sales person who won't stop trying to sell their product to their row neighbors? What about the obnoxious guy who keeps flirting with the prettier flight attendant? What about the young girl who is humming along with the music on her ipod?
What do you all think? Discriminatory?

while it is rather shocking to hear that a flight attendant can kick someone off a plane, I do wonder at what level the child was saying "bye plane!" I've been on planes before when I think someone should address parents with out of control, loud kids. Flights aren't cheap and its rough to spend that much money and have a migraine when you get off. Still... telling someone to shut their child up by medicating them?! How sad. 19 months old, waving and saying "Bye plane!" shouldn't bother anyone. But, like I said, I'm curious if it was as cute as the mom stated. Not that I'm saying it gives the other lady the right to be so rude.

You do have to wonder how loud the little guy was saying "bye plane." Still...it seems to me that a lot of people are becoming less and less tolerant of children - maybe it comes with the territory when society sees children as an inconvenience or "life sentence" (no joke, I heard women say that at the OB office where I used to work) instead of a blessing.
It's no fun being stuck on a flight with an unhappy child, but a nicer more patient flight attendant would probably have gone to her little supply closet to see if she had some crayons or a toy to distract him.

Yep. Last week I made a comment about having a 3rd child and the person I was talking to replied with this "why would you have more than 2? Do you want to be doing this FOREVER?!" Very sad. I can't help but wonder if these kids all had Moms at work when they were younger. :(

Yes. The child quite possibly could have been annoying & loud, & not just "cute". But, since when does a flight attendant have the right to kick someone off for being annoying. That's the down-side to flying, you are in close quarters with many people whom you would prefer not be so near to!
I think you are right Laura - our culture is not very child-tolerant. I say - Discrimination!
